On 26–27 June, Environmental and Territorial Management Institute in collaboration with Milieukontakt Albania (member of Milieukontakt International Network), organized a two-day training in Vlora to train the members of Community of Practice about the beach litter monitoring protocol in the framework of the “Marine Litter Prevention in Sazani and Kune–Vain Islands” project, which is supported by Beyond Plastic Med -BeMed.
On the first day, the training was focused on the theoretical part, where our team gave a detailed presentation about:
  • how to properly carry out a beach litter monitoring
  • what to do and what to avoid during the activity
  • how to record data in the right way
  • how to separate different types of litter based on their categories
On the second day, the training was in the field, where our team and members of the Community of Practice went to Orikum near the Pashaliman area to put the theory into practice.
A total of 15.12 kg of waste was collected, specifically 5.36 kg of plastic items and 9.76 kg of other items. The collected data will be uploaded on the REMEDIES app and then reported to the EMODnet.
