EnerPower: Promoting Local Initiatives to Reduce Energy Poverty in Vulnerable Communities

Start 01/08/2025
- End 31/01/2027

The project aims to identify and mitigate energy poverty in two municipalities (Selenica andMemaliaj), by empowering communities through civic engagement, raising awareness, and influencing policymaking at both local and national levels. The key issues the project seeks to address are:     i) the lack of structured monitoring of energy poverty in municipalities across the country,                                                                                                ii) the absence of collaboration between local authorities, OSHEE (the national electricity provider), and communities in identifying and addressing energy poverty,                                                                                                                                                                                                          iii) the lack of a national dialogue to advocate for strengthened monitoring mechanisms and the creation of financial incentives to support vulnerable citizens.
At the core of the project are 200 vulnerable families (100 in each municipality), who will be involved in a comprehensive process of data collection and awareness-raising regarding energy efficiency and the use of sustainable energy. The target group also includes young people specifically 4 energy advisor, who will be trained to support the data collection process.
Through its planned activities, the project aims to respond to the concrete needs of these groups by increasing their awareness and promoting their active participation in energy and climate policies.
