Waste generation in the Western Balkans has been steadily increasing due to economic development and higher consumption, reaching around 1000 kg per capita. With a recycling rate below 3% (compared to the EU’s 44%), the Western Balkans need to align with single-use plastic legislation and fully implement modernized EU waste laws, including recycling and landfill reduction targets.
The YE-2C project aims to engage and empower young people to transform cities into circular and livable spaces, promoting better employment opportunities, a clean environment, and inclusiveness.
