Waste mismanagement is a significant issue hindering the adoption of a circular economy model in the Western Balkan countries. The agricultural sector constitutes a significant portion of the bio-waste stream in rural communities, facing increasing challenges due to inadequate and insufficient infrastructure and the human resources for effective intervention. Despite the fact, Western Balkan countries are lacking education programs targeting young farmers on how to adapt circular practices or start entrepreneurial initiatives in relation to bio-waste management.
